Pat Falvey
Veteran Mountaineer
Pat Falvey was the subject of a recent facinating Terrace Talk.
The Cork born climber lives in Beaufort a few miles from Killarney
and not far from Killorglin. Pat has a very impressive summit
record for mountains over 18,000ft with a total of 35 ascents
to his credit in the past 10 years.
His conquests include Everest itself the subject of this Terrace
Talk (from the north Tibet in 1995). Chi Oyo, the worlds sixth
highest peak, climbed without supplementary oxygen in 1997,the
highest peak on each of the seven continents and many more, such
as the magnificent Ama Dablam.
Pat's return to Everest lately was a personal journey with many
movitations. Pat Falvey's climbing feats to us mere earth people
are a thinh of great wonder, to stand on top of the world must
be a magnificent thing and Pats vivid almost frighting description
of the final a scent will leave you simply breathless.
Note: A 33 year old Cork Woman has become the first irish Woman
to Successfully climb mt. Everest. Clare O'Leary was accompanied
by veteran Mountaineer Pat Falvey, who also set a record by becoming
the first irishman to climb the 29035 ft mountain from both sides.
