Jimmy White
Former World Champion Snooker Player
Jimmy White is one of the world's best snooker players. Born in
London, has appeared in many world snooker finals. In 2001, he
played an exhibition game in Killarney, Co. Kerry and spoke exclusively
to Terrace Talk. As expected, it makes fascinating listening..
Jimmy White lives in Surrey. He turned professional in 1980, and
so
far has chalked up nine ranking tournament victories. His highest
break
has been 147.
Jimmy has been six times Embassy World Championship runner-up
and it is safe to say that no- one has experienced more heartbreak
than he. Known as "The Whirlwind", Jimmy has been involved in
some epic world finals, most notably when he lost 16-15 to Alex
Higgins in the 1982 semi-finals, and in 1988 when he beat Stephen
Hendry in the second round.
It was heartbreak for Jimmy in the 1984 world final when White
failed to pot the black for the last frame, and lost to Hendry
18-17. Steve Davis and John Parrott also beat Jimmy in the finals.
He has won 22 major titles, 9 of them ranking tournaments. Says
Weeshie, "How fortunate I was to interview this great personality
when he visited my home town of Killarney, Co. Kerry."
