The Making of a Terrace Talk Special
The launch of Reel Spirit in Molly Darcy's
Killarney
The beauty of Terrace Talk and the success of the show is the
fact that many of the
programs are broadcast live and also recorded form different locations
around Kerry and shows have been broadcast from as far away as
Rolly Doolans in New York, Crossmaglen Co. Armagh, Dublin and
other Venues.
The
latest and biggest outside broadcast came a short time ago from
Molly Darcy's pub in the Mucross park hotel in Killarney and this
show was unique in Many Ways.
It was not about sport it was about the launch of a CD, video
and DVD recorded in the
Francascin Friary Killarney six months ago. Liam O'Connor and
his wife Lisa Aherne are going to be world wide stars and they
chose Terrace Talk to set them on their way.
The
work behind the show was immense, Weeshie had numerous meetings
with Liam and the Terrace Talk team and a list of all the guests
had to be drawn up and on the night the sound engineers from both
the Liam O'Connor team and the Terrace Talk team had to work in
perfect unison, as of course perfect on radio is the number one
priority.

On
the night of the show Liam O'Connor himself sat in with Weeshie
interviewing the guests which included some to the top musicial
artists in the world. A huge responsiblilty rests on the shoulders
of the Terrace Talk Producer, Brian Nammock, as it is his responsibility
to make sure guests are seated befor the microphones on time breaks
are taken at the proper time and the musical spots are slotted
in without a hitch.Usually these outside live broadcasts take
a life of there own and there is no room for mistakes.
This
particular show was broadcast in an area where the crowds were
right up on top of the broadcasting area and the atmosphere on
the night in this very old hotel was superb. Liam & Lisa Aherne
performed on stage and his ability with the accordian has to be
seen and heard to be believed while Lisa has a voice like an angle.
The
highlight of the night on Terrace Talk was the actual launch of
the album by Bill Cullen and without a shaddow of a doubt this
is one show that can never be repeated.
